Change preferences

The behaviour of FreeMind can be configured through the Preferences panel (select menu item Tools > Preferences...)

Suggested changes

My recommendation would be to change the following few preferences to make working with FreeMind easier:

Section Defaults

• Change Max Node Width to a value that helps you to see as much as possible of the tree at once. I personally use a value of 300-400.

Section Behaviour

• Change Selection Method to 'By Click'
  This way you have to click a node in order to select it with the mouse - in particular if you use the keyboard a lot, it will be confusing and annoying, if focus moves to another node simply because the mouse pointer hovers over it.
